Did you used to be Modern Sugar? TOP

We used to sell our pre-made templates on our sister site, Modern Sugar.  We created a site just for our pre-made templates.  Need a custom design - check out Modern Sugar for all of your custom boutique website design needs!

Can a template be used for a cart not listed as a compatible cart? TOP

Yes. pre-made templates may be used for another hosting site or cart, however they must be used in their entirety. Graphic pieces may not be taken out or altered in any way and the template may not be altered. In addition, we provide no support or installation for carts other than those listed on our compatible cart list.

How long will it take to get my website up and running? TOP

It takes us 7 - 10 days to install the template onto one of our approved hosts, after we receive your questionnaire and all of your login information. In addition to that you need to factor in how long it will take you to add your categories, products and informational pages. You can begin this process as soon as you sign up for hosting, you do not need to wait for us to install the template. The amount of time this takes varies widely and is dependent on how long it takes you to learn the admin, how much prior computer experience you have, how many products you have and how much time you have to devote to it. I have clients who have entered all their product information in less than a week and others that have taken 2 - 3 months.

Can the pre-made template colors be changed? TOP

We can accommodate color changes for most of the pre-made templates. Please use the color/font change product under template add-ons.

What payment types do you accept? TOP

We accept checks, money orders, paypal, Visa and Master Card. Please note when paying by check, money order or echeck, we do not start work on any projects until we receive your check or money order, and/or your check or echeck clears.

Which host do you recommend? TOP

We have carefully screened all of the hosts on our compatible host list and do not give preference for one over another.  We encourage you to look at their pricing, policies, support and knowledgebase to determine the best fit for you. 

What costs beyond the template cost will I incur? TOP

There are several other costs that you should factor in.

  1. Hosting - approximately $10 - $14 a month, depending on whether you prepay for the year.  Our compatible hosts include a CMS and cart with their hosting.
  2. Domain Name - approximately $10 a year, we recommend GoDaddy.
  3. Credit Card Processing - You can setup Paypal Standard for no monthly fee and without incurring any premium Mal's cart fees (see question #4).  You are charged a per transaction fee when using Paypal Standard.  If you want to accept credit card payments directly on your site you will need a credit card processor (this would include Paypal Payments Pro).  This pricing varies and typically includes a monthly or yearly fee as well as a per transaction fee.  We use and recommend authorizenet.com through eonlinedata.com.
  4. Mal's Cart - mal's cart is free if you do not need their upgraded shipping options or an integrated credit card processor.  You do not have to upgrade if you are only using paypal and/or if you are processing credit cards manually.  If you want to have your credit card processing integrated you need to pay for their upgraded account which is $8 a month.

Can I request customizations to my print materials? TOP

All print designs are pre-made to match each boutique website template.  The only customization we add is your store name and optional slogan.  They are designed to work with Vista Print's design tool.  We do not offer any customizations to the printables.  If you would like to see the print design for a particular pre-made template before ordering, please contact us and we would be happy to provide a sample.  Please note we cannot add your information to this preview.  If you have purchased a color/font change we will apply these changes to the printable.

Do I have to pay extra to have my home page setup? TOP

Our hosting template packages do not include setting up any pages, including your front page.  We setup our sample site to show what your pages could look like and we offer front page setup service in case you want us to create that look for your store.  Rather than adding that on to all the packages and increasing the price for everyone, we let you decide whether you want to create your own front page look or have us do it for you.  This keeps our base prices low and gives you the flexibility to add-on as needed.

Do these templates come with hosting? TOP

Our templates do not include website hosting.  We work with several compatible hosts and offer free installation for our templates if you use a host from our compatible host list.  Each of these hosts offers plans that include a Content Management System (CMS) with cart functionality that makes it easy to personally maintain and update your website as well as sell items online.  This CMS is an easy to use ecommerce system that features a site builder with an integrated Mal's e-commerce shopping cart.  You can update your product catalog, upload images,  and manage orders, as well as all of your site content.  This CMS is the easiest one we have used and find that even novice computer users can learn the system and run their own websites efficeniently.

Do you offer refunds? TOP

Due to the customized nature of our products, we do not offer refunds on any purchases. We always work with every customer to insure that they are happy with their purchase but all sales are considered final.
